The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
Based on the 375 Ruger case necked up to take a .416-inch bullet, the 416 Ruger was developed by Hornady and Ruger and introduced in 2009. Its 2.580-inch unbelted case allows it to be housed in a standard (30-06) length action, making an extremely tidy powerhouse. Hornady's load uses a 400-grain bullet at 2350 feet per second, so the 416 Ruger isn't quite as powerful as the 416 Rigby or Remington Magnum...but is close enough as to be almost indistinguishable. Chambered in the Ruger Hawkeye, the 416 Ruger has not yet become nearly as popular as the 375 Ruger, but it is one of the most compact and least expensive packages ideal for the largest game. —
