The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
The 9X23mm Winchester is a rimless pistol cartridge introduced by Winchester in 1996. The 9X23mm was designed for International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) competition, using a longer (.900-inch) case than the 9X19 with a standard .355-inch 9mm bullet. With greater case capacity the 9X23 is loaded to higher pressure and velocity than the 9X19, propelling a 125-grain bullet at 1450 fps. The intent was to increase reliability for knocking over steel plates...but keep recoil down by using a lighter bullet at high velocity. The 9X23mm has been successful in IPSC circles but is not common in other handgunning applications. —
