Hornady 82206 Superformance 300 WSM 165 GR GMX 20 Per Box
Superformance ammunition is 100 to 200 fps faster than conventional ammunition, and achieves this performance in every gun, without increases in felt recoil, muzzle blast, temperature sensitivity, fouling, or loss of accuracy. Superformance uses ultra progressive propellants that take your favorite SST or GMX bullets to levels of performance simply unattainable with conventional propellants. In order to get more velocity in the past, shooters have used a brute force approach with large charge weights of a slow burning powder in a larger cartridge case which ultimately leads to more recoil and muzzle blast. The Superformance solution utilizes specialized powders at normal charge weights that impart all usable energy to the bullet, reducing the rocket nozzle effect at the muzzle while still increasing velocity. Superformance is safe to use in all firearms, including semi-autos, lever gun and pump actions. Increases in rifle performance, no increases in barrel wear and felt recoil, along with superior temperature stability are all realized with Superformance ammunition.

The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
The 300 Winchester Short Magnum (WSM) was introduced in 2001, the first of what would be several short, fat, unbelted magnums from Winchester, Remington, and Hornady. The theory (and reality) is that burning is more efficient when the propellant column is wider in relation to its length, allowing the primer to ignite a greater percentage of the charge. The burning curve is more efficient, and slightly more energy per grain of propellant is produced. Using a 2.1-inch case, the 300 WSM fits into a short (308 Winchest-length) action, yet produces velocity almost equal to the 300 Winchester Magnum, as examples a 150-grain bullet at 3270 feet per second and a 180-grain bullet at 2970. The 300 WSM was first in its class, and America loves its 30-calibers. As a result the 300 WSM has been the most popular of the new short, fat magnums, with ammunition from multiple sources and rifles chambered by numerous manufacturers. —
