The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
The 30 TC (30 Thompson Center) was developed as a joint project between Hornady and Thompson Center; introduced in 2007, it was the frist factory cartridge to bear the Thompson Center name. Based on the 308 Winchester case shortened to 1.920 inches, the 30 TC uses then-new propellant technology to produce velocities very similar to the 30-06...but in a significantly shorter and more compact case. Hornady factory loads offer 150-grain bullets at 3000 feet per second, 165-grain bullets at 2850. The 30 TC is suitable for any hunting that the 308 Winchester or 30-06 are suited for. Only Hornady makes ammunition and so far only Thompson Center has manufactured rifles; the 30 TC's problem, if there is one, is that no rifle actions have been specifically sized for its cartridge length. —
