The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
The 416 Remington Magnum was introduced by Remington in 1989. Although very similar to the wildcat 416 Hoffman, the 416 Remington uses the 8mm Remington Magnum case necked up. Case length of 2.85 inches requires a full-length action. The standard load is a 400-grain bullet at 2400 fps, yielding 5115 foot-pounds. This is exactly the same as the 416 Rigby, so performance on game is identical, but the 416 Remington offers more compact and less costly ammunition and can be housed in a more compact and generally less expensive rifle. Like the other 416s the Remington is extremely effective on the largest game, and shoots flat enough to be versatile. They are not as versatile as the 375s and produce more recoil--but are certainly more effective for thick-skinned dangerous game. —
