The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
The 7.65mm Argentine (7.65X53mm Argentine Mauser), introduced in 1889, was an early Mauser development that was very much ahead of its time, a relatively short cartridge with 2.1102-inch case firing a .313-inch bullet that developed velocities very similar to the 7.62X51mm NATO...except 60-odd years earlier! 7.65 Argentine remains the most common sporting cartridge among Argentinian hunters, and its 1891 Argentine Mauser is considered among the best of the early Mauser rifles. The 7.65mm Argentine was officially adopted by five South American countries, and also by Belgium and Turkey. Although we call it the 7.65mm Argentine, it remained in service in Belgium until 1957. Surplus Mausers in this cartridge are still occasionally available, and ammunition is still loaded. —
